Varanasi (Banaras or Kashi), located in Uttar Pradesh, India holds the distinction as the most sacred among the seven revered cities (Sapta Puri) in both Hinduism and Jainism. Moreover, Varanasi has historically served as an important place in the evolution of Buddhism and Ravidassia traditions.

The term "Nepal" finds its earliest mention in texts dating back to the Vedic period of the Indian subcontinent, a time when Hinduism emerged as the predominant religion.
